If you have a web site, you should be looking for new ways to earn money from that site. Obviously, you know you can make money with Adsense but did you know there is a way to make more money? The way to do this is by adding link units to your site.

Link Units: The Basics You Need To Know

In a nutshell, link units are an extra type of content Adsense allows you to place on your web site. Unlike traditional Google ads, these are links placed either horizontally or vertically on your site. Generally, four to five of these links are grouped together. When a visitor to your site clicks on one of these links, he or she will be transported to a page of Google ads. In the past, you were only permitted by Google to place one set of link units on your page. Now they have upped that number to three which means you have greater potential to make money with Adsense. Of course, now you need to know how these links will earn you money.

Money Making Link Units

To make money with Adsense normally, a visitor to your site only has to click on the Google ads placed on your site. When you are using link units, however, your site visitors will need to click on the link on your page, as well as one of the Google ads on the next page. That may sound like a tall order just to make a profit but not if you use them correctly.

Placing Link Units

The best way to make money with Adsense using these link units is to first choose the best location for them on your page. Although they can be placed anywhere, the best choice tends to be either at the very bottom or right under your site's main navigational links at the top of the page. The horizontal placement of the links is also a good idea. Choosing either of these options will allow your link units to blend in with the rest of your site. Remember that the links should match the rest of the links on your page in terms of color. You don't want visitors to suspect those links are anything different than the others on your site.

Now if you do want to include some vertical link units on your page the best choice is to incorporate them into the content of your page. For example, if you have an article on your site, throw one of the units in about halfway or less through the article. As readers are skimming the content, they'll automatically see the links and may follow through with a click.

Relevance Issues

Of course, the best part of trying to make money with Adsense is the ads and links you are given are usually quite relevant to the content of the page on which they are being used. Clearly, this means you will have a higher number of click throughs.
