You'll see that you can start a free Wordpress blog on the Wordpress website that allows you to start a blog for free. No hosting fees, no domain registrare required. But, is this a great way to make money online? Not really. Instead of getting a .com account, consider the .org one which is still free to use but that needs to be put on your own domain with your own webhost.
You can add this free blogging platform to an existing domain as the root address or as a sub domain and there are a lot of good reasons to choose to go this route.
As much as it's nice to get something for free, there are some drawbacks to going with the free WordPress blog approach. Instead, you should consider putting a WordPress blog on your own domain. Sure, it costs money but the results could be substantially better. The blog platform is free but in this case you'll pay for hosting and your own domain name.
A domain registration is $10 or less and that gives you an entire year. Instead of getting a yourchoice.wordpress.com address, you'll have a yourchoice.com address. This is yours to do with what you choose. You can't add advertisements to a regular blog on the WordPress network as they frown upon that but using this blogging platform on your own site enables you to do whatever you like with it.
You don't have to pay for the blogging platform, it's free to anyone and there are oodles of free themes to choose from as well. If you want your own customized or premium theme you can certainly buy one but the free themes you can choose from are definitely plentiful.
Once you've bought your domain and arranged for your web hosting (which can be $5 or so a month for a starter plan or $10 a month for a larger plan that will allow unlimited websites for one price) you can do what you want with your blog. You can apply for Google Adsense, add ClickBank advertisements, show your Amazon widget and write blog posts until your heart is content. You can also add any number of widgets to dress up the blog's sidebar.
WordPress can be easily optimized for search engines so that people can find you online and can be monetized so that you can earn money with that blog. Companies add blogs to their website to talk to their customers, businesses also add it to expand their search engine results and people are blogging all over cyberspace to get out a message, to sell something or just as a hobby.
WordPress is one of the best free internet tools you'll find and there are a lot of add ons that you can use for social media, search engine optimization, monetization and more. The minimal fee of putting your blog on your own domain and having full control is well worth it and this blog of yours could help you launch your own online moneymaker.
