Achieving ranking for the right keywords can mean a hard to work to be done. Structuring your website correctly is one of the key to have high search engine rankings. Make our page search engine friendly and write content relevant to our keyword target. For an example in Busby SEO Test Contest I see many contestant write unrelated content. So, how to outrank the leader, here are few SEO Checklist to make sure your site ranked correctly: Title
• Created unique Title for each page. Use keywords target in the title and keep it brief but descriptive
Meta Tags
• Meta Tag Description; Meta Tag Description should contains descriptive sentence about your page, and contains the first keyword target early in the sentence.
• Meta Tag Keywords; Should contain keyword phrase target and common variations. Make sure keywords relate closely to the page content and tie into the overall theme of your site.
Keywords
Keywords are included in the visible page content. Include keyword phrases (and variations) a number of times within your text. Do repeating few times, and try to not doing keyword stuffing. Write naturally, don't try to trick search engine or your reader by doing keyword stuffing. Here few check list relate to keyword ;
• Place keyword in title tag,
• Do you best to place keyword in URL,
• Count keyword density in document,
• Remember to place keyword in H1 and H2 headings,
• In the beginning of document is the best place to start your keyword target,
• use it in ALT Tags and Meta Tags as I mention above.
Links
Link is one of the most important things in optimizing your page. Link to your most important pages from other pages on your site but void using sitewide link technique. Also use keywords in link text (anchor text), make it as descriptive as possible.Here are few list relate to link :
• Make anchor text of inbound links as descriptive as possible,
• Origin of inbound links,
• Inbound links from similar sites,
• Try to get links from .edu and .gov sites.
Content
People and search engine come to your page mostly for your page content. So, have enough high quality, relevant content are important. Search engines love quality content. Here a few list related to content :
• Write Unique content ,
• Update your site or blog frequently,
• Age of content,
• Void duplicate content, invisible text.
Other factors
You also have to take care of website's navigational structure, it means every page of your website can be reached by search engine spiders. Make sure the most important pages not to be too deep within your website. Other things you should consider is site accessibility, sitemap, site size, site age, domain name, URL length.
